Thank-you card still required for gift
By Carson Elliott
Augusta Chronicle Special Columnist

Dear Carson: Instead of a wedding gift, my co-workers took up a collection and gave me a gift certificate. Would it be acceptable for me to buy souvenirs for my co-workers, such as book markers, key chains or memo pads while on the honeymoon instead of writing thank-you notes?

I don't mind sending thank-you notes, but I just feel people might rather have something practical instead. - Appreciative Co-worker

Dear Appreciative:
A souvenir does not replace your obligation to mail written thank-you notes. Giving small remembrances from your wedding trip to co-workers in addition to your thank-you notes would be a nice touch.

Dear Carson: Who is traditionally responsible for paying for bridesmaid and flower girls' dresses?

What about for their shoes, hairdos, makeup, jewelry and bouquets?

The same questions apply to groomsmen's attire. Do wedding attendants get to keep their dresses and shoes, or do they return them to the bride after the wedding? - Unlearned About Weddings

Dear Unlearned: Bridesmaids pay for their own dresses, shoes, makeup and jewelry and groomsmen bear the expense of tuxedo rental. The bride's family pays for the bouquets.
