Afternoon wedding is early for black tie
By Carson Elliott
Augusta Chronicle Special Columnist

Dear Carson: We are invited to a 2 p.m. wedding with the dress listed as "Black Tie Optional." What does this mean? Confused

Dear Confused: It means that the person who sent out the invitation does not know that 2 p.m. is too early for a tuxedo. The man should dress in a dark suit and the woman in a church-suitable dress or understated cocktail dress or suit.
